Antique Cloisonne Buckles:
Cloisonne buckles were said to be to be extremely popular a long time ago but are now regarded as antiques, many people claim that these antique cloisonne buckels hold a certain sentimental value that shows how much work and effort went into making the buckle.

The enamel is applied to the antique cloisonne buckles in the same way as any other cloisonne product, and the wire frames are still used to created the pattern, although this time the pattern needs to be smaller which is sais to mean more detail and effort has to go into the creation of the cloisonne buckle.

Antique Cloisonne Buckles materials:
The metal material is usually bronze or copper, these metals are used because they are said to be easily shaped and moulded. The wrieframe is soldered onto the buckle then then gaps are filled with enamel paste.

The enamel paste is made by heating up glass powder and several metals so they bond together, once hardened the enamel is said to be crushed and ground up into a powder once again and mixed with water to become enamel paste.

Cloisonne Buckle plating:
Some of the buckles were plated with gold or silver, many people said this made them alot more attractive and "higher class". When plated with gold or silver the antique cloisonne buckles were apparently highly polished to bring out a brilliant shine.
